Canary – Serinus canaria
The canary is the domesticated form of Serin Canary.
The selection of these birds in farms had created many breeds and varieties by focusing on three aspects: singing, color or shape.
Breeding canaries are usually yellow, with white ends. But there are many variations.
The canary can be divided into two broad categories : the lipochrome canary and the melanin canary.
Their size varies from 11 cm to 20 cm. They can live up to 6 to 10 years depending on the species, some even reach the age of 20 years.
Their external characteristics are very different, color and plumage. There are currently 21 different breeds of canaries in shape and posture. The canary is easily crossed with other birds. By combining these colors together, it can give hundreds of different colors. Red canary are yellow canaries marked with both red gene. Some varieties are posh, others have curly plumage.
