Salmon-crested cockatoo – Cacatua moluccensi

The salmon-crested cockatoo is a species of cockatoos from South Moluccas and Eastern Indonesia. With 50 cm long, it is the largest bird of the genus Cacatua.

The female is slightly larger than the male. It has a pinkish white plumage with a pinch of red, bright yellow under the wings and great crested that it straightens when it feels threatened to scare the opponent. It has a loud shout and in captivity, this is a good imitator.

In nature, it inhabits the forests below 1000 m and its diet consists mainly of seeds, nuts and fruits.
