Cattle – Bos taurus
Bos taurus is the scientific name given to all domestic Cattle: Zebu, Cow, Beef, Bull, Calf, Taure, New Federalist, Calf.
This mammal is a big ruminant about 120 to 150 cm per 600 to 800 kg.
Two subspecies are distinguished:
- the domestic Cow Europe – Bos taurus taurus and Zebu
- the aurochs – Bos taurus indicus, which some authors add Bos taurus primigenius – is extinct but breeders are trying today to reconstruct a race very close.
Its primary functions were Beef meat production, milk, labor, leather, horns, knives where for heating and soil fertilization.
