Northern plains gray langur – Semnopithecus entellus
It is a monkey from the Cercopithecidae family that lives on the Indian continent.
The body can reach 70 cm long with a tail of 100 cm. The young are born with a thin dark fur and takes on a golden greyish color.
Sacred langurs are organized in bands that can sometimes live in the city. The animal is considered sacred in India, it is never disturbed by human presence. The lifestyle of these monkeys reflects their privileged status. In the city of Jodhpur some 2100 wild langurs regularly invite themselfes to the society of men and taste their food. Some Hindus leave these sacred animals share their picnic or use in their gardens.
In nature, it likes the steep, vegetated habitats. Their diet consists mainly of leaves flowers, fruits. Their stomach is provided with sacs to detoxify this type of food.
The female gives birth to a little at a time. More than half of these monkeys are killed by diseases, predators, but the survivors can live nearly forty years.
