Yellow budgerigar parakeet – Melopsittacus undulatus
Yellow budgerigar parakeet, also called, Lutino parakeet is a small, long-tailed, seed-eating parrot.
It is entirely yellow, with red eyes and without eye ring. Yellow can be light, medium or dark, yellow straw with gold button. There is a total loss of melanin, so ripples and spots do not appear, and atrial tasks are white. The legs of this animal is flesh colored and nails have no pigmentation. The appearance of the nose can distinguish the male from the female. The first is bluish while that of the second is pink.
Its flight feathers and tail feathers are white clearer view. It is the lack of melanin which causes that the budgie is yellow, blue does not appear, only the yellow subsists for a green parakeet. The mutation is sex-linked.
Yellow budgerigar parakeet is undergoing genetic mutation. Its all yellow color is due to the existence of a so-called lutino mutation that absorbs melanin, a pigment responsible for brown and black shades. It is for this reason that this variant of the budgerigar is better known as the lutino.
Food is identical to that of its peers. It consists of a mixture of different kinds of seeds as white millet, oats and canary. These birds also need to eat fruits and vegetables such as apples and carrots. Cuttlefish bones ground and other calcium-rich foods can complete this diet. This mineral is indeed essential for bone growth and production of shell eggs.
