Red mullet – Polyester – Color : natural – Mullus surmuletus

The red mullets are also known as surmullets.

The red mullet is a goatfish of the Mediterranean Sea, east North Atlantic Ocean and the Black Sea. With global warming, the red mullets tend to move north.

They live in a small group or couple on sandy bottoms and gravel at the edge of meadows and rocks. Its sandy brown striped dress would allow it to be well hidden from the eyes of predators if it was constantly in action, head in the sand with its two barbels.

Burrowing loose soil, it looks after small worms and crustaceans which they feed. It raises small sediment clouds and leaves very visible traces on the ground.
